Alison Lewis

 
Alison Lewis has been practicing yoga with Tim Miller since 1994. In 1997 she took her first trip to India to study with Pattabhi Jois for 6 months. Since then she has returned to Mysore four times. Alison has completed teacher trainings with Tim Miller, Nancy Gilgoff, Erich Schiffman and Aadil Palkhivala. and has received authorization by Pattabhi Jois from the AYRI in Mysore, India. In addition to teaching yoga at Tim Miller's Ashtanga Yoga Center, Alison is a Structural Integration/Rolfing practitioner.  
     
Atsuro Chiba

 
Born and raised in Japan, Atsuro discovered Yoga in his mid twenties after moving to San Diego. He practiced a few different of Yoga styles until he found Ashtanga, which touched him deeply. He started studying with Tim Miller in 2005 and he has completed the 2nd series of Ashtanga yoga teacher training with Tim Miller in 2008. His daily practice of Ashtanga at The Ashtanga Yoga Center with Tim Miller continues to change his life in a positive way and he has come to view it as a wonderful science of the mind, body, and spirit.  
     
Heidi Hagen

 
Heidi has been a passionate and dedicated student of Ashtanga Yoga since 2003. To deepen her study of yoga, Heidi moved to Encinitas from Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2007 to study with Tim Miller. When not immersed in her various yoga practices (asana, chanting, and pranayama) Heidi teaches math and science to kids in elementary school.  
     
Holly Gastil

 
Holly's nurturing and light hearted teaching style reflects the flexibility she has gained, both mentally and physically, through the practice of Ashtanga yoga. She began the practice 16 years ago, and felt the call to begin teaching in 2002. Holly's first teacher, Alison Lewis, encouraged her to study with Tim Miller at the Ashtanga Yoga Center, where she continues to be challenged and inspired in her yoga practice on a daily basis.  
     
Josh Vincent

 
Josh began his study of mind, body and spirit as a musician, studying classical operatic technique. Upon completion of a Master of Music degree from the University of Indiana in 2001, Josh moved to Chicago to join the chorus of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Chicago Symphony. In Chicago Josh devoted himself to a disciplined study of Ashtanga Yoga with Jodi Blumstein, Quinn Kearney and Tom Quinn. Since then Josh has studied in-depth with senior teachers such as Richard Freeman, Gabriel Halpurn and Tim Miller. Josh teaches both the traditional Ashtanga vinyasa method , as well as more contemporary vinyasa-flow style with an emphasis on precise breathing technique and alignment. Josh also sings seasonally with the San Diego Opera Chorus.  
     
Natasha Teran  
Growing up in South America, Natasha developed and nurtured a passion for fitness, health and well-being at an early age. Her devotion to continual growth and improvement led her to explore personal training and nutrition while at the same time embarking upon a successful career in tap dancing. Upon coming to the United States, she discovered her path to yoga. In 2003, she began studying with Tim Miller, where she teaches now. Natasha incorporates the lessons she learns from her own rigorous daily practice into her classes: her oft-repeated mantra is "Practice, practice, practice!" She also inspires students by incorporating her yoga-inspired philosophy in every aspect of her daily life. Her classes themselves are an invigorating combination of discipline and fun which focus on proper alignment, the building of strength, and individual improvement. Her experience, energy, and enthusiasm inspire her students to grow stronger both physically and mentally.  
     
Rich McGowan  
Rich McGowan feels fortunate to currently be living in Encinitas where he was introduced to yoga in the mid 90's. After trying a few different types of yoga he found his way to the Ashtanga Yoga Center , and began study with Tim Miller. In 2000 he attended Tim's Teacher Training Workshop, which he now assists annually. Rich has attended various retreats and workshops,and spent time in Mysore India studying with Pattabh Jois . Rich believes in the importance of adhering to the established tradition of the practice while at the same time taking a non dogmatic approach adapted for individual situations and needs.  
     
Sequoia Neptune  
Sequoia has studied yoga for over 15 years and has been teaching since 1997. She has trained with Tim Miller for the past 8 years and has taught at the Ashtanga Yoga Center since 2001. More recently, Sequoia completed a certification in Vinyasa Krama Yoga with Sri Vatsa Ramaswami. Sequoia loves to incorporate Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, vedic chanting, and pranayama, along with asana practice. She has been exploring music with Jai Uttal and Daniel Paul and often includes kirtan in her classes. Sequoia has also studied Ayurveda and Jyotish with Dr. Robert E. Svoboda. Her Intro to Ashtanga classes and Intro to Pranayama class are open to ALL.
